Rev. Joya Sosnowski is an ordained Divine Science minister, spiritual teacher, intuitive seer, priestess, and vocal medicine practitioner whose life's work is devoted to human awakening and the liberation of Divine Love. For more than three decades, she has explored the mysteries of consciousness, the nature of the soul, and the profound relationship between the human body and the Divine.
Her spiritual journey has been shaped by more than 30 years of mindfulness and Vipassana meditation practice, studies in Spiritual Psychology at the University of Santa Monica, contemplative Christianity, and a lifelong devotion to Mary Magdalene and the sacred feminine. Her studies and personal explorations have taken her into the mystical traditions of Christianity, nondual philosophy, ancient wisdom teachings, and the sacred mysteries of consciousness, death, and spiritual transformation.
Once a skeptic, Joya now describes herself as a curious mystic. Through decades of spiritual practice, direct mystical experiences, and profound encounters with the mysteries of existence, skepticism has given way to an abiding faith in the Divine. Her curiosity, however, has only deepened. She approaches the spiritual path not as a collection of beliefs to defend, but as an unfolding relationship with the infinite intelligence and Love that she experiences moving through all life.
Throughout her life, Joya has experienced intuitive perceptions, spontaneous inner imagery, and moments of direct knowing that have shaped her understanding of consciousness. As a seer, she frequently receives symbolic images and impressions during her work with others, often revealing deeply meaningful connections to their personal experiences. She regards these gifts not as supernatural exceptions, but as natural capacities of consciousness that can become more accessible through presence, sensitivity, and trust.
The Sacred Intelligence of Sound
Central to Joya's ministry is her extraordinary relationship with sound, resonance, and the human voice. Gifted with perfect pitch, she has a natural sensitivity to musical frequency and harmonic relationships. Yet her deepest experiences with sound transcend conscious musical composition.
Joya's vocal medicine arises from profound states of embodied presence in which the ordinary sense of self falls away. Rather than consciously composing or directing her voice, she experiences spontaneous melodies, harmonics, overtones, and unfamiliar vocal expressions emerging through her. In these moments, the distinction between singer, sound, and source dissolves. She experiences this as a form of sacred communion, where consciousness, vibration, and the living body become one continuous expression.
For Joya, this is the mystery at the heart of spiritual embodiment: the more completely present and embodied one becomes, the less separate a self there is directing the experience.
Her vocal medicine is not rooted in performance or the conscious production of particular sounds. Instead, she enters a state of deep receptivity in which the voice becomes an instrument of spontaneous expression. She experiences the frequencies, textures, and unexpected vocal qualities that arise as channeled sound—an expression of the Divine moving through the living body.
As her practice has deepened, Joya has noticed an increasingly powerful embodiment of her voice, with sound arising not simply from the throat but through the felt participation of her entire being. Her work explores the relationship between vibration, breath, the nervous system, emotional expression, and states of expanded awareness.
Drawing upon vocal toning, intuitive sounding, drumming, therapeutic instruments, meditation, and somatic awareness, Joya creates immersive experiences that invite participants beyond the limitations of language and intellectual understanding. Her approach encourages people to discover their own voices as instruments of presence, emotional liberation, self-expression, and spiritual communion.
Through her Resonant Release Method™, Joya also integrates sound, somatic awareness, and compassionate presence to support people navigating grief, emotional bracing, identity change, and significant life transitions. Her work honors the body's innate capacity for expression and invites a more intimate relationship with the sensations, emotions, and experiences that seek acknowledgment.
Grief, Awakening & the Transformation of Identity
Joya is the author of the #1 Amazon bestselling book Grieving Awake, a spiritual exploration of loss, consciousness, identity, and the possibility of awakening through life's most profound transformations.
In February 2025, the death of her eighteen-year-old son, Weston, brought her decades of spiritual practice into an intimate encounter with the mysteries of love, death, and the continuity of consciousness. Her experiences profoundly deepened her ministry and gave rise to a body of teachings that approach grief not as something to transcend or overcome, but as a sacred human experience worthy of complete presence.
Joya teaches that the identities we construct throughout our lives are not the totality of who we are. When loss, transformation, or spiritual awakening dismantles the familiar structures of the self, an opportunity may emerge to encounter a deeper dimension of being.
Her work honors both the devastating reality of human loss and the mysterious capacity for consciousness to awaken within it. She does not teach that suffering is necessary for awakening, or that grief must be transformed into something positive. Rather, she creates spaces in which the full experience of being human can be welcomed without abandoning the possibility of spiritual discovery.
A Living Ministry of Presence
An award-winning speaker and experiential spiritual teacher, Joya was named the 2025 winner of North America's Next Greatest Speaker. She has shared her work with corporate organizations, educational institutions, spiritual communities, and audiences seeking a more embodied and intimate relationship with themselves and the Divine.
Her teachings weave together mystical Christianity, contemplative practice, sacred feminine wisdom, nondual awareness, intuitive perception, somatic inquiry, and the transformative power of sound.
At the heart of her ministry is the understanding that spiritual awakening is not an escape from the human experience, but a fuller participation in it. The body is not an obstacle to enlightenment, but a sacred instrument through which consciousness can become known to itself.
Joya's work invites a direct experience of the Divine rather than adherence to a particular doctrine. She honors the wisdom of spiritual traditions while encouraging each person to discover their own relationship with truth, faith, surrender, love, and the mystery of existence.
Through private sessions, vocal medicine, sacred circles, immersive gatherings, writing, and spiritual teaching, Joya creates spaces where the seen and unseen, the human and Divine, and the ancient and emerging can meet.
She believes that the extraordinary is not necessarily separate from the ordinary, that spiritual gifts are expressions of our deeper nature, and that the mysteries of consciousness become increasingly available when we are willing to be fully present.
Her life's devotion is to human awakening and Love's liberation.
And at the center of that devotion is a simple, living recognition: the Divine is not somewhere outside of us, waiting to be found. It is expressing itself through the very substance of our being.
Stay. Be transformed. Go and tell.
